I an no longer able to use a secure internet site such as Amazon.com to make purchases. It used to work just fine and I have made nno changes to my computer. When I try to log into any secure site i get the following message:

Safari can’t open the page “https://www.amazon.com/gp/flex/sign-in/select.html/002-0475409-1662444?ie=UTF8&protocol=https” because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server “www.amazon.com”.

I repaired permissions and rebooted several times. No help.

My PC uses the same ISP and works fine so I don't think I have a server problem.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Terry

These were on an apple discussion forum about the same problem:

"Just resolved my problem by trashing the file named "System.Keychain" in Library/Keychains/ folder and restarting. "

Not sure what information the system keychain has in it.
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=982087󯱇

"The Keychain remembers passwords. Before trashing it, you might try repairing it by using the KeychainAccess.app in the Utilities folder. Drag down the Keychain menu to Keychain First Aid."

Thanks, Tom.

I tried repairing keychain - no luck. I did not find a file called "system.keychain".

Anyway, my computer seems to remember passwords just fine.

Still can't log in to sites using secure sign in. I can't even check my hotmail account cause it won't let me sign in with a secure connection!!

Tom,

I went to the Apple forum topic you referenced and was able to find the correct "Library" folder with the referenced file.

I deleted it like everybody else did that had this problem, restarted my computer and it works!!

Thanks a million for the info, Tom!!

For a second or two I thought I was gonna have to buy a PC!!
