Roy:

I use it nearly every day, but in a fairly limited way. What specifically do you need help with?

Well, I have the program installed on my computer. My server has given me a username and password and ftp site. What I can't figure out what to do is how to post a picture or something else now to another web page like SGF or ebay. I get the split screen, and I can pull up stuff off of my computer, and that is about as far as I have got.

Once your pics are uploaded to the FTP site, copy and paste the url's (uniform resource locators) into your SFG post. Use the UBB Codes to add the tags to display the pics or to include links to them.

If you use a free hosting site like photobucket.com, you can skip the FTP process and upload your pics using photobucket's easy-to-use utility.

Roy;
Your ISP that provided you with what you are calling an FTP site has really given you free website space. Contact them to find out what your URL is from a browser. Look at my example below and compare it to what your ISP says about your web space.

Example of a free website URL:
http link deactivated with ht*p substitutions

ht*p://www.yourisp.com/~username/foldername/imagename.jpg

If your ISP tells you that your website resembles something like that substitute the actual values for the exemplified ones. Then, go to the SGF section where you want to embed the image(s) and copy and paste that URL where you want the image to appear. Next, surround the code with UBB Image codes, like this:

Roy, when you open WSFTP, the first box you see is called wsftp sites. Click on the + next to the folder "sites", go down the list to "mysites", click on that + sign. If you have set up your account, it will be listed there, if it is, highlight it, and click OK. If you haven't set it up, do this:

On the right side, click on "new"

type a name for the site, perhaps "Roy's page"

click "next"

now enter your user name, and your password,

click "finish"

Now go back and look under "mysites" your new site will be listed.

double click on it,

you should see some activity and go to a blank page. This will be your web space. But now you need to make a directory for it. Click on "mkdir" make directory. a box appears, type "public_html" without the quotation marks. Make sure you use the underline key between the words.

Now, just to make sure it works, exit the program and re-start it. Look under "mysites" for your site, double click on it, and you should connect to the folder you created. Locate a file, picture or whatever, using the left window, which shows what is on your computer, highlight the file, now see the arrows between the two windows? Click on the one pointing to the right, the file should upload.

Now you can link to the photo as explained above. For example, here is a url to a photo I have uploaded:
http://www.provide.net/~wmoore/gcg001.jpg

the first part is the server, after the /~ is my user name, after the next / is the name of that particular file.

This is a little confusing at first, but keep at it, you will be able to do it. Good Luck.
