Repetative tasks

I should probably be able to figure this out myself but thought I'd ask the experts.
How can I get my computer to do a series of repetative tasks?
For example--
If I have ten jpg pics of approx 800kb each and want to send them in an eMail I like to resize them to about 30kb or less.Seems to download faster for a dial-up recipient.
To do this I currently open each pic individualy in my "Paint" program then resize using the "stretch and skew" tool,then save this modified pic back in the original file.
Then add each pic,one at a time, to my eMail.

Seems to me I remember "back in the day" when I could write a little program fill in the blanks with the "addresses" and the computer would go to work.

There must be some simple way to resize all 10 pics at once.

Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com is a great image program that allows batch conversions for size among other things.

Photoshop and other image editing softwares will do batch conversion.

Why not try Picasa - free from Google - automatically resizes pictures when sending by email. Works a treat.
