My Internet Exporer

Can anyone help?. I use Yahoo as my home page
I cannot access the page as it is a blank that states, "Unavailable" what does this mean and how can I resolve this problem anyone? Wiz can you help me?

Are you able to access other websites, or do you get this message for all URL requests?

If it is only the one website it may be temporarily overloaded with traffic, or may be the subject of a DDoS attack.

If all website requests return that message you are not connecting to the Internet at all. Possible causes include:

* Firewall is blocking IE

* Broadband router has lost it's IP address from the modem and needs to be rebooted

* DSL or Cable Modem has lost it's connection to your ISP and needs to be rebooted

* Your dialup modem has "stalled out" (lost sync), either at your end or the ISP's dial-in modem banks. Disconnect and reconnect.

* More diabolically, your computer may be the victim of a HOSTS file DNS Poisoning attack. To see if this is happening use "Search" to find a file named HOSTS and (when asked what program to use) open it in Notepad. Look for any lines that refer to Yahoo.com that look like this example:

127.0.0.1 yahoo.com

If such a line exists remove it entirely and save the change (Alt + F + S), then close and re-open Internet Explorer and try the site again. If no happy, reboot and try again.

It may be prudent to scan for spyware, viruses or browser hijackers as soon as possible.

I'll try to do as you suggested, but I am really not too swift trying to find the solutions to computerology. Thank you for trying to help me.

Another test: Try changing your home page to something else like cnn.com and see if it loads.
