Some how an unwanted pgm got on my pc.. called winfixer.. it sends you a warning message about a potential virus.. then automatically diverts your page to thier site hoping you will buy the service.. it seems to come back every 10 pages or so.. I have removed it with Mcafee anti spyware, but since it is not a "virus" it is not getting caught by my anti virus pgm... any ideas on how to disable this thing..

WinFixer is a serious spyware infection, and very difficult to remove. I suggest that you Google for "remove winfixer" and visit the forums that you find in the SERPs. You may need to download special tools to remove this threat.

Bo;
Download, install and update Spybot Search and Destroy, immunize all, then scan for and fix all discovered threats. It will fail to remove some threats that are active in memory and will ask for permission to run on system reboot. Allow this and reboot immediately (after fixing as many as possible). Spybot S&D will start to run before your desktop loads and will remove Winfixer and many other threats in this manner. Run another scan after it quits and Windows finishes loading, rebooting if necessary.

MS AntiSpyware/Windows Defender will also terminate WinFixer, but it is a beta program in a state of flux right now.
