| I haven't tried this, but from looking at their web page, it doesn't seem to do much more than your typical sound card. It does do some ground isolation which is a nice and non-typical feature. And also has RCA jacks, but converting from RCA to 1/8" mini-plug is pretty easy. |

I see a lot of problems with USB connected audio equipment. If you had a Laptop that didn't have a "line In" jack then it may be something to consider otherwise it's not needed.
Modern sound cards (sound cards in the last 10 years) are at least 16 bit audio (analog to digital conversion) and some such as the SoundBlaster Audigy line are 24 bits. CD audio is only 16 bits so whatever sound card you have is at least as good as commercial CD audio. |

| One additional item to consider with a USB connected device. It is not DMA (direct memory access) like a PCI device (or a on-board - on the motherboard - sound device). |

| Ron,I have a simple set up where I can record from cass.,vhs tape, cd,lp's,even 8 track(if I still had one that worked) I line in all of these to an audio/video selector(about 12$at wal-mart)and connect the line out to a stero receiver. My record player is connected direct to the stero reciver )(on most you need to amply. the sound). From the A/V slector I run out to the aux on the receiver. From the rec. out to the computer. Computer out to a 40 watt stero amp.(about 40$) at wal-mart. I use musicmatch jukebox 10 to record with. Since there is no video card in this com. I line out of the vhs recorder to a tv for my video (can not record video). I can create a cd from anything I want You may still get a little hum from cass. or lp's but not much if you control it through your receiver Pretty good sound for what I have hooked up. Does any of this make sense? |

| I use tape out from the receiver to the computer---not from the speaker output and use the volume on the receiver to set the volume going to the computer. Tape out does not input a strong signal to the computer. I should have put that in my other reply. You can still feed from your speaker outputs from the receiver to a set of home speakers if you like. Read JacK Stoner's input!! |
