Topic: Need a Font forTablature |

I'm looking for a font to do tablature with. I want to get the look of Jeff Newman's material. I plan to use the font in a spreadsheet.
As you know, in Newman's material, the numbers are large and bold. In a spreadsheet, when you increase the font size, the space between lines increases proportionally. I may need a font that is cropped at the top and bottom to prevent too much extra space.
Does anyone have such a font. If not, can anyone create it for me?

Thanks Wiz. But music notation is not exactly what I'm looking for. I already have that. What I need is a hand written type font for just the numbers. I have plenty of musical fonts.
Have you seen the Newman books? I think he probably wrote them out by hand. Or at least the numbers in the tablature. The rest may have been computer generated in the past few years.
Anyway, thanks for the tip. I'll still try a search and may come up with what I'm looking for.

checkout Tabledit, it comes with a tab font.

I have and use TablEdit. But that's not what I need here.
I'm looking for a hand-written font for numbers only.

| You really shouldn't be using a spreadsheet if you want to have exacting control over the formating. A table in a word processing program (such as Microsoft Word) will likely give you better results. A vector drawning program such as Adobe Illustrator will allow you any format you desire, but it won't be as easy to input the songs. |

Are you sure? I thought I was getting pretty

For anyone interested, I set up a spreadsheet to do this.
Select EVERY cell and change the font to the one I created for tab. Select the first 10 rows and format them so there are borders on the top and bottom of each cell (this creates the horizontal lines). Set the width of each column to 0.10" - or even smaller if you want more control. Start typing in notes. Each time you put in a note, move to the right about 3 columns and put in the next note. This keeps the space between notes constant. You'll also need to format each cell as text to make the numbers left-justified.

Gary,
Did you look at FELTPOINT bold from the Microsoft Font? Also look at DANA and Paintstroke.
They are somewhat similar to Jeff's tab.
