"It's A Wonderful Life" was aired last evening on a three hour network special. There was a steel guitar playing Hawaiian music in that movie during the honeymoon scenes, does anyone know the identity of the steel player?

Hi, Reece. Merry Christmas & happy new year to you & yours.
Taking a wild guess: Assuming that was filmed in Hollywood at that time maybe either Freddie Traveres or Alvino Rey?
Just thought I'd get the ball rolling here.

I was watching last night and wondered about that too.

This really belongs in "No Peddlers" or "Steel Players".

I'm moving it to "No Peddlers",

Don't know who the steeler was but the tune was the Hawaiian classic "Song Of The Islands".

Hi Myron,
It was in "Events and Announcements". That's why it was moved. You might be right about "Steel Players".

I put it here because it was definatly a non-pedal guitar, and I suspect many of the "No Peddlers" experts don't read all of the other sections.

If the answer isn't found here, Brad is welcome to move it.

Hi Rex....happy holidays to you and yours as well.

Because the steel used sounded non pedal, I'm inclined to believe it was not Alvino. I'm not familiar with the style of Freddie Traveres.

BUT WAIT...

Eddie Bush did a number of sound tracks as well. When Freddy wasn't reddy they would call Eddie.

Please tell us about Freddie Traveres.

It's odd that Merle Travis was in " From Here to Eternity" also, since their last names sound alike.
