I just received an email with the following message:
quote:

Message, sent to cliff@flocknockers.com cannot be delivered.

I have never sent an email to "cliff@flockknockers.com" -- so apparently, someone sent out an email as if it came from me.

Is there some agency or other entity to whom I can and should report such messages?

If it were me, I would just delete it. More and more there are automated email servers that just send out things randomly to IP adresses and hope they find a sucker to open it and see what's enclosed.

It might be a virus, all the more reason to delete it

There is generally no one to report it to other that your email provider, and the cheeseballs who work there could care less.

If it continues to come up, it's probably a hijack and you need to block its access to your email.

We forum members can talk about that if necessary.

I delete more than half of my email without opening it. If the title looks like spam or the sender doesn't look like a real person's address, I delete it. Waste of time.

My website is captured by Google and other search engines, so my e-mail is available to the world. Consequently, I receive between 150 and 300 e-mail messages daily, and all of them but about ten are spam.

I routinely delete (without opening) everything that I don't immediately recognize, and it only takes two or three minutes so it's not that much of a chore.

Gene. Man, I would explode if I got even 20 e-mail spams a day. Something is wrong, and it's not google.

I would have a good heart to 50 cal. machine gun talk with your provider.

No one should ever have to put with that much crap.
