I made the switch to FireFox about a month ago and so far, like it much more than Internet Explorer. One thing that I do miss are the "Personalized Favorites" of IE. This is where only the bookmarks that have been used recently show up in the Favorites list.

I have scoured the FireFox plugins pages and done Google searches, but haven't found anything to let FireFox do this. Has anyone found a way to enable this in FireFox?

I don't have a direct answer to your question, but it makes me wonder whether you have discovered the 'bookmarks toolbar' feature of Firefox. Just in case you haven't..
This adds an extra toolbar line at the top of the browser with just the few links on it that you want to see (the ones you use most). You just go into 'manage bookmarks' and drag/drop bookmarks into the folder and they appear at the top of the screen. This is very convenient and makes switching between your fave sites very easy.

I'm not bailing on Firefox or anything but the bookmark system is my biggest pet peeve. I accumulate a whole lot of favorites and my filing skills are less than ideal so I sometimes save something that I already have but instead of asking if I want to overwrite it I just end up with duplicates. I also have had some hiccups when trying to move things around in the Bookmarks. Haywire locking scrollbars, things that just won't move, things that disappear only to be found much later in a wrong folder----definitely user error is suspected but I don't care to take the time to have to learn too much info or finesse.

Mick, your suggestion helps, but I have way too many sites that I visit often to fit into that toolbar. I'm hoping the IE (and Windows menus in general) functionality will get added to FireFox one of these days.

There is an extention that will allow you to sort your bookmarks by last visit date. However, it is not done automagically -- you have to select a menu option everytime you want the bookmarks to be reordered.

Many people have been disapointed by the Firefox bookmarking system, and I'm sure there will continue to be new extensions to address these needs.

You can add more than just bookmarks to the bookmark toolbar at the top. You can add bookmark folders. When you click on them the whole list of bookmarks in that folder drops down. I've got about 8 folders in my toolbar that give me quick access to over 100 sites.

WARNING ON FIREFOX
I had been using Firefox for a few months and it was great. Trouble is, my McAfee subscription renews on Dec 20 (while I was out of town). When McAfee tried to automatically update my Security Center, Firefox wouldn't let it and that bounced me out of McAfee's system. I had to remove all Firefox programs, and redo a lot of security settings to get my computer to where it would accept McAfee's updates.
