Does anyone know of any program(s) [preferrably free] where you can slow down the tempo of a song, WITHOUT changing the key?
I've been using GOLDWAVE and you can slow up [and speed up, too] the tempo, but you have to go and retune and/or capo your axe to get in tune. Needless to say; A PAIN.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

| Not free but very very good - TRANSCRIBE see www.seventhstring.com - there are loops, slow downs, etc etc - I find it invaluable for trying to find out what someone was playing - chords as well as single notes, and then practising with it and gradually speeding up the track. |

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm gonna give all a look see.
Hiya George. I've got BIAB v11. Not sure if it has 'slowblast'. If so, will the file sound exactly as it is, or will BIAB jump in there and add their 2 bits?
I haven't been doing much with BIAB, but I'll bring it up and look for it. Thanks.

Tom, I went and put on Winamp v2.91 and the Pacemaker download and it's just what I was looking for. It works well, and of course,
is "free". I use to have Winamp 5.0 on, but it didn't seem to work well and was overwhelming for my liking. v2.91 is just simpler.

Glad you got something that will work for you.
Slow Blast is a program all by itself. It was on one of the installation disks that came with BIAB. BIAB has nothing to do with the Slow Blast program at all. You start Slow Blast and then play your file you want and hit the record button for the section you want and then stop the recording. Then just set your speed for playback and it will continually loop that section at the speed you chose for playing it back.

Pacemaker is good, and you should probably also get another plug-in called "Loopmaster" (I think that's what it's called... search the Winamp site). It lets you easily loop any section of the song.

Probably most any of the *commercially-available* quality audio editing applications will do that. I happen to use Adobe Audition mostly, but my Vegas Video 5.0 also has audio filters that can do it.
Quality stuff's not free, however. You get what you pay for, like anything else. |
