CD burner problems!!

My 3 year old CD burner wont copy anymore. It gets the cd to the image file ok, but shows hardware failure or takes 20 min to burn 25% to the disc. Any advise.

What software are you using? I had lots of trouble with Roxio but Nero works fine. How long has it been since you defragged your disk? That makes a big difference too.

Defragging is ok Jim. I use NTI CD Maker in windows 98.
