Anyone using the subject sound card?
I just upgraded my system. When I go
to record via mike and digital input
the sound will not come through my speakers
nor do the level meters activate.
I have been doing a lot of trouble/shooting and so far have had no luck.
I am wondering if the unit was properly installed (connections inside the box)
Can anyone help?

I used this card for some time, with good results. The analog to digital conversion is not at the level of the professional cards, but it is still capable of making good home recordings. My recomendations for trouble shooting are:
1. First look at the card from the system level. Does Windows recognize the card? Do you have it enabled in the system? Will it play WAV files stored on the hard drive? Do you have the proper drivers installed? I once had problems with a sound card, and found that I did not have the PCI bridge installed, so my system would not see any PCI type cards.
2. Check the Windows audio mixer. There are separate screens for playback and record. If you do not have the inputs enabled in the record screen the system will not pass audio on those inputs.
3. Check your audio application software. Most software requires you to specify the source for audio.
4. If none of this works turn the computer off and go watch TV. I usually get to this point shortly after starting step 1.

Thanks fellas.
Those are good trouble/shooting ideas and I tried them all.
I received the Windows 2000 upgrade for my SB model and installed it. When I bought my computer they installed a version of SB off the Internet site. They are not fully compatible obviously. I have to deinstall what I have on there now and then install my original software with the upgrade.
A long way around but am hopefull it will work.

Roy, I don't know about the upgrade...but I recently bought a new Gateway 500X PC that came with the Soundblaster Live Value with Digital Audio Output, and it has performed flawlessly.... Gene

To-day I got the above problem resolved.
When my Soundblaster Card was installed in my new computer they did not connect the power patch inside to the Live Drive.
All my sound applications work fine now.
That took almost a month to track down.
Be ready for anything and assume nothing.
