I'd like to know too. I've searched for something that would convert RealPlayer files into wav or MP3, etc and never found anything.
There was one program I ran across that set up some kind of virtual sound card so that what you played could be "recorded" but I didn't like bypassing my sound card.
The only other option is to record the songs on an external device and then "record" them as a wav or MP3. I get decent recordings from my Tascam 424 MKII tape deck with DBX. |

I use Cool Edit 96 for all my sound editing work that I need done. With it I can record anything that's being played through my soundcard (I have a Soundblaster 64D). I was listening to the Grand Ole Opry on the web the other night and recorded it at the same time so I could listen to any parts that I missed while it was plating live. Worked great.

| I don't know about a direct conversion, but I think Dave has the right idea. I have several recording utilities and they will record in real time anything that is playing through my sound card. I think your sound card would have to have full duplex capability to do this. Somewhere I saw a utility that would capture streaming Real Audio. While trying to find it, I ran across this: http://www.silent-bob.de/en/ It claims to record anything from your soundcard. Check the FAQs. They suggest a patch cord from your line out to your line in......might work. |

I have used Winamp with the Real Audio plugin (innover's) to convert .ra/.rm files to wav files. Plugin is freeware.

Gary is correct. Winamp can be used to convert Real Audio files to .wav.
I write them direct to my hard drive like this:
Open Winamp, go to Options, Set-up, File Types and make sure .ra and .rm files are selected. Then go to Plug-ins, Output and select Nullsoft Disk Writer Plug-in. Click on Configure and it will let you select a directory to save the .wav file to. Then click Close. Load the .ra or .rm file you want to convert and click play. The file will be saved to your hard drive as a .wav file in the directory you selected.
When you are finished converting, go back into preferences, Options, Plug-ins, Output and click on Nullsoft Waveout Plug-in, then click close. Program will now work as before, and will play rather than record to disk.
