Using the "Render to wave" to record a Biab tune to a Wave file works OK, but when I playback the Wave file to check that it has been recorded, the Wave file volume is hardly audible.
In the Record control panel I have the Midi Balance clicked ON & the volume set to 3/4 full.
The file IS recorded, but playback volume is very low. Is this normal??

Joe-- Yes, that is 'normal' in that that is consistantly the way it works.
First, though, adjusting the midi does not adjust the audio volume. When you're preparing to record, part of the process is selecting the signal inputs and levels. If you're recording from the mic, make sure you have IT selected and have adjusted ITS level.
As you are setting the parameters to 'render to wave' there is a place to adjust the audio volume. They say a setting of +6db will double the volume.
For stuff you've already recorded and saved, you can (after opening the file) click on the Audio tab near the top of the screen and then click 'adjust level of region...' which will open another dialogue box. In that box, you can type in the db value (try 6 or 10 to start) and, if you wish, select which parts of the song to adjust. This will take some time, depending on the length of the song. Subsequent adjustments will be made 'on top' of this since it is a permanent change.
The 'quick' adjustment under the Audio tab never seems to do me any good. The db is always already set to the max of 127.

| Another thing you can do is to "import" the wave file into Power Tracks and then edit the wave file by "normalizing" it. That will bring up the volume to the 0db setting. If you hear some "floor level" noise after doing this, it means you will have to set the "mic" recording level higher in your controls to offset this background noise. Then I save the edited file to a clean folder for burning. |
