I just received my DOD Yngwie Malmsteen YJM308 pre-amp and tried on my old Magnatone lap-steel ...I couldn't believe the sound that I got thru a Peavey LTD 400.. it's in that David Lindley ballpark. It was $30.00 plus $6.00 shipping to Alaska..great deal! http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--DODYJM308

James:it is a lonely little thread, thanks for saving it.I'm gonna try it on my pedal steel this week, and probably my strat.Another reason why I bought it is sometimes when recording I need just a little more gain because I lose a little from my volume pedal it's set to go all the way off, this could help that, and it will probably help also piezo pickups.I also have a DOD stereo phaser that is really good$40.00 I was amazed at that one also.John Macy..How are you?I'm going to Mesa in Jan,any chance you'll be there?Stu |

John:I look forward to seeing you in Mesa.I've got a big tackle box with pedals that I've been collecting for years. My favorite is an original MXR Dynacomp that I paid $12.50 for in pawn shop in Fairbanks,When I show up for a session people usually say "Hey he brought his lunch" it's full old pedals. |

Stu , are you saying this preamp pedal is primarily useful for only an overdriven sound or does it have any other useable attributes ? , I'm just curious , all 3 of my steels have pretty hot output just going straight into the amp.
I couldn't believe the sound that I got thru a Peavey LTD 400.. it's in that David Lindley ballpark |

Mitch....I got ripped off for $4 !!......Funny I deal a lot with AMS ....
Stu....OK , the pedal came and the housing is REALLY solid !!.....I piugged it in and this thing is BRIIIIITE !!!......Like a lot of other overdrive pedals , anything above 12 o' clock on the gain , and it's buzzy....The very adjustable gain and volume makes this a pretty nice little pedal ...It add's a nice harmonic to the tone that fattens the clean tone a bit in a good way ....Keeping the gain down also keeps the noise down...Turning up the gain and it get's really buzzy, and can cut with a brite, buzzy tone worse then my exwife's voice !!...and that's saying something !!...
Like I said , keep the gain at 12 o'clock or lower, and you can raise the level up and have a great sounding little pedal ...Thanks for the tip ....Sincerely, Jim |
