Newly Received Hilton Pedal
I just got my Hilton volume pedal and the tone that it gives my student model GFI is really astonishing. From the lowest notes to the highest notes, it sounds like a new guitar- so clear and rich. But also, it is extremely loud. I have yet to mess with the volume knob or off point on the back because I don't know what would be the best levels. When I put the pedal to the floor, you can hear a little crackle too, maybe this is because it is so loud?

Matt-- Like they said, try it and get used to it first before any adjustments. My only comment on adjustments would be--be sure Keith has it set so it is not entirely off when up. In other words with the pedal is up and off- you should be getting a light "leak through" of volume. This will smooth out your picking quite a lot while learning. Good luck - you have the best from a great guy !!-

Matt, if you are hearing "crackling", you may be overdriving the preamp in the guitar amp. Reduce the input level control on the amp to eliminate this. If your amp does not have an input level control, reduce the output level of the pedal.
It is impossible for Keith to preset the pedal because there are many different pickup and amp combinations.
The adjustable output level of the pedal allows you to adjust it to any desired level so it will work with your equipment.
I suggest that you leave the tone control set to max so you don't color the signal.

My wonderful wife bought me a Hilton Volume Pedal for my birthday and I hooked it up for the first time last night to my Mullen. I agree, what a difference... no noise, no tone changes, crystal clear sound. And Keith went to the Post Office to mail it while he had the flu so it would arrive in time! I'm a fan!
