I use a Black Box with a Hilton pedal. Many here will agree that the combination with most steels and amps is a winner.
I use a Carter D-10 8p 9k (BL 705 PU)--> SGBB-->Hilton Pedal--> WEBB 6-14E amp.
Playing live, I experience a great on stage vibe... the tone is really to my liking.
However, when I am plugged in to a mixing console I am hearing the sound engineers tell me they have a hiss that "they can't live with". This occurs both on stage and in a (commercial) studio situation.
I have been connected either through:
1. a DI box from the preamp out from the WEBB
2. through a PODxt Pro into the mixing board
3. Through a NV 112 XLR out to a mixing board.
BUT, when I take the Black Box out of all connection situations - the hiss is gone.
I really enjoy this BB but if I can only use it when I am just going off of 'stage volume', it has lost some of it's "spark" for me.
Has anyone expereinced anything like this?
HELP!

Tim, I used a black box a while before going to a revelation pre. I never had any noise or hiss on live or studio sessions. I did go straight from guitar to the black box, to a LDR 2 pedal then through my rack.

Tim.
It sounds to me like a tube gone bad. Let me get you a fresh one, and we'll see if that gets it.

Maybe as simple as a dirty tube socket. |
