Peavey Vegas Amp
Does anyone know about these amps? Where they designed as steel amps, guitar amps or other? I saw one at a local pawn shop and thought it might be good for our fiddle player.

The best Peavey steel guitar amp I ever owned. Not to say, they are all good, just not as good as the Vegas.
Wish I could buy a new one.

I have 2 of these, use it every day, sounds great, it is worth the weight carring it for the good sound you get from it. Also the Session 400 is a good one. I prefer this amp above the Nashville 400. Just me.
I like the 2 cannels, I play my sounds tracs thru the second chanel, also you can do a stereo with this amp using both chanels with different adjustnents on each chanel.

The Vegas was designed for the musician who plays more than one instrument during a show. If you look at the operating guide, suggested settings were provided for steel guitar and six string electric guitar and fiddle.
Peavey Sales Rep Hollis Calvert provided these settings as he does play steel, fiddle and guitar exceptionally well. Here is a link to the original operating guide from our website; http://www.peavey.com/search.cfm?c=3&lang=&term=vegas

I have a Vegas400 and have it 'modded' ala the Lemay mod kit. My amp is about 22 years old. Mike B. and his crew had to do a bit of refurbbing about a year ago, and now it's running just beautifully.
WEIGHT: yeah - she checks in around 71 lbs.
But I simply took the amp out and made a very nice cabinet for it, and so now have the amp [35+-lbs] and the speaker cabinet [35+-lbs] as separate units. Much easier and more manageable to haul around.
I even figured out the true balance point on the amp enclosure and proceeded to install a floor or shipdeck recessed handle; it's installed off-center at the balance point so when you pick up the amp it will not tilt on ya. Lays out level.
It's a great amp; it's been going strong now for 22+ years. What more can you ask for.

The Vegas is exactly as Dave just stated. A great amp for sure. If anyone wants a free list of info to upgrade the amp (filter caps, reverb mod and Peavey type tone mod), check the following link:
