My Lexicon 110 promises me that I can vary my "Eko Delay" within the Chamber reverb program, by using the Tap function, but I can't seem to find any networthy info on what an Eko Delay is in the first place. Line 6 stuff apparently models it too, but what the heck are they modeling? |

I'm guessing that the model would be the tape driven ECHO-PLEX of the 1960's!

Or how about the Rolls-Royce of tape echo units, the German made Echolette! Remember them, guys? [This message was edited by Barry Blackwood on 10 October 2006 at 03:23 PM.] |

The Echolette was great...so was the Roland Space Echo.
I still have a Sireko - the Maestro Echoplex without the sound-on-sound function, and a different cassette. It's fun to play with...the "crap" factor of real tape delay is very organic/60's sounding. |

We had a tape based one made by Fender - I think. |

I would imagine that Lexicon, Line6, and others use the word "Eko delay" to describe tape echo in general.
Don't know about the Lexicon, but on Line6's "Echo Park" pedal you can dial in the amount of tape warble and noise to get a fairly "authentic" sound. It'll never be the same of course, but it's quite cool...

Eko might refer to the brand, like in this article, where it says "...eko analog delay pedal ('round 600 or 800ms of delay) ".

I think that "EKO" is Italian. Manufacture(d) amps, guitars and basses in the lower price-range as well.
