They sound extremely brittle and digital- not at all like a POD. That being said, most steel players these days LIKE that sound, so you never know.

Interesting, I just picked one up with a 45 day evaluation period. After only having spent a few hours with it, I would have to strongly disagree with your statement.

I have a POD XTL and it can't handle high frequencies well at all. I get fizz on any fender model I try if I play too hard. Also, my hollow-body electric that I use for rockabilly and surf gets really harsh sounds out of the pod unless I roll off the highs which kills the tone.

The Zoom G9 doesn't have these problems. It's has much more headroom and is makes the pod seem muffled in comparison.

However, I am having a hard time getting that classic fender tone on the zoom that I can get on the pod......albeit with the above flaws. The zoom fender twin model sounds more like the pod's roland Jazz amp to me.
