Ken, I sent you an e-mail, hoping to secure chips for my ProFex II and TubeFex (and ProFex II foot controller?)

Thanks Steve, Marlan and Delivin! Brint, email sent. No battery in the foot-ontroller.

At this time there are 33 ZMD chips left that are not reserved.

Ken why all of this after market upgrade, can't the units come with a better quality of components?

The batterly-less memory is a newer technology, not availabe when these units were built.

The Burr Brown chips were likely not available at the time. If they were, I am sure that it was a cost measure. I fell certain no one else was likely using the Burr Brown chips in a comparible unit. Competetion often dicates design considerations!

Thanks, John.

That leaves only 19 of the ZMD chips left.

I have just a few left at this time. I am now testing a chip from Simtek that appears to be working great in a Profex 2 that I have in the shop! More on that later, I want to try it in a Transtubefex or Tubefex first.

Thanks to John Fera at Peavey for the info on that chip. I have located 70 thru a vendor I use for the Burr Brown chips. The Burr Brown chips seem to be getting just as hard to find. Digikey, Mouser and all the distributors I could find a while back were out.

I am hoping to have enough stock for Dallas next year!

All the ZMD chips are pre-sold!

I have 70 of the Simtek chips in now! They are working great in the Profex 2 I have on the bench. I have been testing it for weeks and it seems to be the same chip!

Ken does a great job on the Profex II's. Mine never sounded better, especially the lower bass tones.
Thanks Ken.
