I have a Peavey VEGAS 400 and a PROFEX 1. I have been plugging the output of the Profex into the Power AMP Input jack of the Vegas. Is that the best way to connect these particular units? With this connection I find that the sound I have in the PROFEX headphone jack is not the same as I am getting out of the Vegas; especially on the top strings. They seem to lack the top end clarity. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Go to Peavey web site and download the manual for the Vegas and it will show you the proper way to connect the processor.

I appreciate your response, but I have already examined the Peavey Owner's manual and am confused as to the proper procedure for the Profex. Therefore, I would like some additional help from someone if possible.

Richard,

I play my Profex II through an Evans amp (FET 500LV; 15" speaker)...but it should be the same hookup.

Steel Guitar (from volume pedal) into the INPUT (front) of the Profex II; then connect the OUTPUT of the Profex II (left for mono to get both output channels) into the FRONT of the amplifier.

You will still have to adjust (or 'tune') your amp's tone and sensitivity controls. Tune these to your liking. Use little, if any reverb, since your Profex settings probably have reverb in them. Your Profex headphone jack will not include any modification of the signal provided by the amp itself.

I have been doing this for several years. It's simple and I like the result.

Best regards,

bUd

On the back panel is two jacks marked PWR IN and PWR OUT.
Plug a shielded cable from the PWR OUT into the input jack on the Pro-Fex, Plug the output from the Pro-Fex to the Jack marked PWR-IN.
Notice those are the jacks on the Vegas 400's back panel.
This is how I connect all my processors and amps.
