Peavey Nashville 112 - [problem]?

Well looks like I've found something else out on the SGF I had never thought about. "Cell phones and amps". Makes perfect sense to me. I've tried different amps, different brands but always go back to the Peavey products. My amp I keep in the steel shop is a Session 500. It's to heavy to be hauling around. My weekend gig amp is a FSK with a Peavey 1501 new speaker in it. I also keep a NV-400 on standby at the gig. Then sometimes I'll set up the 400 and use it. I've just bought a 112 from the folks at CARTER, since I was buying two used guitars at the same time. When something works, why change it? The only thing I wish Peavey would do one day is to build a steel amp that already has the effects built into it such as delay, phraser, etc. Have the knobs on the front to where you can plug your guitar in the amp and have what you need at your fingertips without having to hook up delay boxes and special effects, etc.

Apologies for dragging up an old thread but Billy's comment about "cell phones and amps" brings up a good point. That is, cell phones DO NOT play well with electronic equipment.

Here's a video of a cell phone that is causing a Dell computer to go into a non-recoverable suspension mode (computer has to be rebooted). Imagine what these little critters can do around unshielded (or poorly shielded) musical equipment....

I love all my Peavey amps, even the 112 that did not work when bought new.
The reverb was not hooked up on the preamp board. I did not want to ship a new amp back to the factory so I had Ken fox fix it. It cost less to have it fixed than it would have to ship it back. Peavey would not pay the $20.00 because Ken is not a service center for Peavey. I am not pleased with their decision but am not mad either, poor excuse to not pay. I guess I am OK with Peavey I bought another Peavey amp Sat. in Montgomery, A Session 400 Mike I love the sound of this amp so much I may buy another one, and I thought no other amp could sound better than my 2 Vegases, will buy another session as a backup.I do not like the 112, just cannot dial it in as good as my other Peavey amps.
I have other amps.
1. Silvertone
2. Shobud Custom 1972 model
3. Johnson
4. Getz Ben I thunk
5. a bass amp etc

I like the Peaveys better.

Ernest, Peavey does not have a problem with the reimbursement of your $20.00. The problem is that since Ken Fox is not affiliated with an authorized Peavey dealer, I don't have the means to reimburse you. You wouldn't go to a used car lot to get reimbursed for your new Cadillac, would you? (No offense, Ken, just an example.) Authorization of a music dealer to carry Fender, Peavey, Gibson or any other brand of musical instrument is very important because that authorized dealer is has access to all schematics, parts and technicial information for those products, whereas a non dealer doesn't. What this means is that if a non dealer obtains a part to repair your amp, he pays more for it and he doesn't get reimbursed by the manufacturer. This is the important part..................the warranty on the product is void at that time.(Read your warranty agreement).

The bottom line is that I have no way of reimbursing you directly.

I had the same problem that William had with one of my N112. Every time it started making that noise I turned the reverb off an it would quit. So it had somethig to do with the reverb. I don't normaly use the amp reverb so it really does not bother me. But I can see where it would be a problem for a lot of people. I have 2 peavey NV400's and other peavey effects and have used them for 20 years and they are a excellent products. Very satisfied with Peavey products. Wish I had more money to spare and I'd buy some more.

I surely understand, Mike. No problem here! I just wanted to help out a friend and did it cheaper than the freight bill to send the amp to Peavey. It was an easy fix. Just another adventure!

Super nice amp inside, by the way. The layout is very easy to service. I like the IC sockets and the fact that there are no surface mount technology parts in there! I do not think any one makes nicer PC board equipment for musicians. Peavey has always been the leader there, IMHO.

I took it out and played my Tele through it and it really shocked me as to what a great guitar amp it is too.

It's been said and posted hundreds of times, but is worth repeating. IMHO, the N112 is a fantastic amp and a pair at a gig kicks serious a** (I have 3 of 'em, one for backup). Loud, punchy, powerful, and tremendous sound. They are also light and it's far easier to manage a pair of them then a single behemoth 200 watter while at the same time a single one is perfect for rehearsals and small-medium-size club dates. And it can't be said enough that Mike Brown is the pre-eminent custoemr service man for musical equipment in the USA. There is absolutely none better, no way, no how.
