| For those of you who use a rack setup. What preamp do you use? I am speaking about a designated preamp only not a preamp with effects. Just a preamp that has eq. Thanks. |

I really like the Tube Works Blue Tube II.
Although I don't have one, they did make one with a steel mod. At present, I am using an Evans HVRP preamp. It sounds great!
There are enough knobs on that baby to satisfy anyone!  |

| I'm using an old Rocktron "Sidewinder" preamp. Bought it used a couple of years ago as an "interim" preamp but it's worked so well it's no longer "interim". |

Here's a sample of the Revelation preamp used direct. It's simply the Revelation with a TC M300 effects unit in the loop and then recorded into Protools. The player is Randy Beavers.

| I have two different racks, one has a Mesa-Boogie V-twin that sounds pretty great for steel, the other that I use in the studio and live has an old Alembic F2-B, which I believe is actually a bass preamp. Great vintage tone, akin to that of an old Dual Showman. The F2-B was pricey, (this is the red knob stereo one from the 1970s like David Gilmour uses), the V-twin I got on e-bay for about $300. I recommend either of them highly, both are very reliable and great sounding. |

| I have owned and tried an Evans preamp and a Line6 PodXT. The Evans sounded very good, the Pod just didn't sound natural enough. Now I have one of Brad's Revelations. THIS IS THE LAST preamp I'll ever have to buy. This preamp is awesome. The tone is unreal. I run it direct because we use in-ears. In the past running direct meant sacrificing tone. Not so with the Revelation, in fact at two large country fests in WI that we played on the big stage, both times the sound engineers commented that my steel tone was so good that they merely ran the eq on the board straight up. This preamp also sounds just as good run thru a power amp and a couple of 15 inch speakers. You would not be dissapointed with it. This is the ONLY piece of gear that I have bought that I could'nt find anything that I didn't like about it. |

With my Revelation Preamp, I have tried running it direct in the studio, through my rack rig (which is what I use it for mostly) and also direct into the back of my NV1000 -- hands down it is the best tone I have ever got out of any of these setups. Not to push a point too much but Brad has built probably the best piece of kit available anywhere !

| I am not in the market for a preamp because I am trying to stay a light weight as possible and I am not that fond of the stereo sound for myself. (Now if someone made a good mono preamp, maybe.) But that demostration of the Revelation with Randy Beavers playing is simply amazing. The playing is so good and so clean and even with little speakers on my computer it really and truly sounds like you are sitting right in front of Randy live. I can't say that I have ever experienced anything that pure sounding before. |

| Danny, Try to imagine what it's like owning one. I've had mine for 3 months now and the new STILL hasn't worn off. I look forward to playing every weekend now just for the sheer pleasure of of hearing how good the Revelation sounds. By the way, my steel mix in my in-ears is mono. |
