John,
I understand that you use an Evan HVRP pre-amp in your rack. I just picked one up from Al Brisco in Canada. I am wondering if you would share your settings with this old left-handed Norwegian? It didn't come with an owner's manual and I haven't gotten any response from Evans.
It would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to seeing you again in Indianapolis!
Thanks,
Erv |

With all the Tornado activity in the area where John lives, it may be a while before (if) he answers. |

Erv,
I just spoke w/ John,to let him know about your posting. He can't get on the i'net right now 'cause he's on Comcast cable,& their "off the air" right now, because of the tornado, but,as soon as they get back on, he'll respond to your inquiry.

Erv,
You might want to talk to Jerry Newberry. He's a Evans dealer and knows everything about these.

Exactly the reason I will not use anything but DSL. The old telephone lines are seldom, if ever down.

Many of us cannot get DSL. DSL is limited to 15000 ft from a telco central office and it must be straight "copper" cable.
To those of us that DSL is not an option (and there are many) Cable is the only broadband choice. |

Hi Erv,
Well, I'm finally back on the air.
Here are my settings on the Evans pre-amp.
Bass---3
Depth--3
Body---between 2 & 3
Expand--8
Trebble---3
I have Emmons-single coil, 20,000 ohm pickups in my guitars. I use a Lexicon MPX1 for effects, A Stewart PA1000 power amp and JBL D130 15" speakers.
These settings are what I use but you can tweek them to your own hears as you see fit.
Hope this helps a little and look forward to seeing you in Indiannapolis.

JOHN YOU FORGOT TO MENTION THAT YOUR TREBLE
HAS BEEN MODIFIED .
IF HE PUTS HIS TREBLE ON THREE HE MAY BUST ALL THE LIGHT BLUBS IN HIS HOUSE
SO YOU MAY WANT TO PUT THE TREBLE BETWEEN
0 AND 1 MAYBE ONE JUST TO SAVE THE BULBS |

You are right "Buddy".
I did have the treble control modified so that I would have a little more control over it. It's not quite as sensitive as before.
Sorry about that Erv. You would probably run your treble between 0 & 1.
