This is my 1st endeavor into building speaker cabs and since I wanted to go to a rack system, I figured now would be a good time to start.

I built them with the ability to be open or closed back. Birch plywood construction w/ pine baffle.

Whatcha think? Do you like 'em?

Thanks for looking,
BigB

Bryan, they look great. I assume they're 12 inchers. Any chance you perhaps made drawings that you would let someone copy? Phred

What is the weight of each cabinet? How do they sound so far and what type of amp are you driving them with?

Nice looking cabs!

Neat...where did you get the tweed? Just curious, how are they ported for closed use?

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

FRED: you'd be welcome to drawings if I had some, but I built "on the fly" doing only basic drawings on cardboard before measuring out the wood. They house the 1502's I took out of 2 NV400's

GREG: Haven't weighed them yet. So far I'm very happy with the sound but I am awaiting my regular axe back from Texas this weekend so I can really give them a workout. I am using a Peavey DPC750 through a Profex II.

BILL: I have not ported them for closed "yet" I've got a lot of experimenting to do to get the optimum effect. Any ideas would be appreciated. The tweed tolex came direct from the Peavey factory. I stopped in and picked some up in Meridian on our way out to Texas for the Jamboree.

Thanks again guys!

First endeavor, you say? Sketch drawings on cardboard? Well, you sure as hell don't need any drafting equipment!

Well done, indeed!

Bryan,
I don't think I would want to play where many people could see me with those cabs. I will be thru there next week and if you like I can take them off your hands. Some of the places I play they would not be noticed.

Thanks again for all the nice comments!

JAMES You're a hoot!

HAROLD You're giving me a copmplex. You better come get these things before somebody sees me in public!
by the way Harold, you know I always wanted a rack system, and I've finally assembled one. A DPC750, ProfexII, Korg DTR-2. My MSA sounds really nice through it.

Bryan,
They look great. You did an exceptional job on them. I am getting ready to build some more and I will be ordering some grills. If you need ports let me know and I can get them at that time.

they look fantastic!

how do they sound?

I was reading a little about building cabs and apparently there's more to it than just a box and a speaker...there is some kind of proportional relationship for cabinet space and speaker size and such. I guess it can make a huge difference in the sound, and I guess there is a method to calculate the size cab needed or something, but I know very little about that..ok i know nothing about that, cept I read that it exists.

Bryan, those look great. I am thinking of building my own rack box to house power amps, eq's and wireless receivers for my band. Great job.

Bryan, aren't you the guy who has Ted Crabtree's old M.S.A? You've got a good guitar on your hands there. I'll give you $20 for it.
