I have a Steel King, [and Peavey] and when I run my rhythm tracks from a mixer to and from the effects loop in back of the Steel King, there is a push button for selecting pre or post eq. I don't hear a difference in tone either way the button is positioned no matter what I do with the eq. knobs on the front. Has anyone else experienced this? The amp sounds really good, but I'm just curious.

The pre/post EQ switch is only for sending a pre or post EQ'd signal to the sound board from the low impedance out.It does not affect the effects loop and no change will be heard from the speaker. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the explanation Dick. Apparantly the pre/post eq. works differently on the Steel King than it does on a Nashville 112 where, if you run from a mixer to the pre-eq. patch you can color the sound with the controls on the amp. George

"If" you do use the XLR out (i.e.; for going direct), I'd definately recommend going "post EQ" as that will give you use of the controls on the front of the amp. I use this often. In situations where you need to go direct and you can't use the speaker in the cab as an additional monitor source, just turn the master knob all the way off...then you attenuate the output signal from both the volume knob and the output knob next to the XLR in the back. This is a really good direct sound...I just wish they'd make this in a smaller pre-amp as well.

Thanks Mike, Your input and comments on the Forum during the introduction of this amp got my interest up, but when I actually tried one, that was the clincher. What a great sounding amp Fender has produced. Thanks again, George
