My Emmons vol pedal all of a sudden started sqealing when connected to a FX pedal. Could it be a pot gone bad?

Sounds like you might be losing a ground somewhere. Loosen the nuts on the volume pedal jacks and on the EFX pedal jacks, and then re-tighten them. |

How can a volume pedal "scream"??
Since it apparently didn't cause any "screams" until you hooked up to something else - logic would say the other item is the cause. |

Maybe so, Jack, but not always. High-gain EFX (like a fuzztone) will oscillate sometimes if the ground on their input is lost. I once had a shield break loose on a cord plug going into a Big Muff PI, and it made a terrible squealing noise, not the low-freq hum you might expect. |
