I need to know if I am connected from pre-amp out to P.A. board with a Nashville 400, can I safely disconnect the internal amp speaker. Is the amp still loaded with P.A. system or not and does this have to have a speaker connected at all times? If I need it, how can I make a switch to do this? Thanks for any help in advance, Ken

Ken, after looking at the schematic, it looks like you can stick a blank 1/4" plug in the power amp jack to disconnect the power amp from the circuit.
The preamp-out will still be functional. If you want to hear the amp, just remove the plug from the pwr amp jack.......... JD

That is correct. This will not harm the amp.

I used to do what John suggested. Put a guitar cable plug in the Power Amp jack and just leave the other end hang loose (not touching anything so it doesn't short out).

This may be a stupid question, but doesn't the gain knob control the preamp volume, and the master volume control the power amp volume? Couldn't you just regulate the line out with the gain, and turn the master volume off to keep anything from coming out of the internal speaker?

Many thanks to everbody that took the time to reply. The "fix" works like it was said to work. Thanks again, Ken

The Master gain does not work the same on a Nashville 400 as it does on the Nashville 1000 or 112. You have to block the power amp section if you only want to use the Preamp Out.

That was a welcome change on the 1000 and 112 amps.

David, Jack is correct. In the NV400, both gain controls are in the circuit before the preamp-out jack.
