go to http://www.newarkinone.com and do a keyword search on "switchcraft". You'll get a search result that you must then narrow down to the item you want. It may be easier to peruse their print catalog if you can find one. I've been getting my XLR connectors and 1/4 inch jacks from Newark for years. |

I've bought 1/4" switchcraft from Musician's Friend. Mouser Electronics, www.mouser.com also carries them. |

I agree, Mouser is always a good source. Great service, same day shipping. You guys also might want to nose around Small Bear Electronics. http://www.smallbearelec.com/home.html
Switchcraft jacks are in the "Stock List"...
He has some hard to find stuff.
Best regards,

If you have never tried Neutrik connectors, I highly recommend them. Never had a connection fail in over 15 years. Mouser has them. Or, if you just need a few, I have a bunch of the plugs.

I have some Neutrik 1/4" jacks and they are made in the "far east" and not the same quality as the Switchcraft.
I've had to drill out the mounting holes in the Neutrik's too as they were too small for most wire. |

Jack, Neutrik has two tiers of parts quality. They have chinese jacks and also Swiss (or Austrian maybe) ones. I found that out by mistake when ordering parts one time. I had no idea they had "stooped", but they did. Distributors seem to carry both the cheapies and the excellent ones.

Brad, thanks for the info. The ones I got were competively priced with Switchcraft but were the "inexpensive" variety. There was nothing in the parts catalog to indicate where or what quality level these were. But, since they were priced about the same as Switchcraft, rather than some obvious lower cost "imported" jacks I assumed they were good quality. |

Yea, the only indication I found was the price. Now I know what to look for. To be fair, the chinese made ones weren't half bad. Still rugged and strong black nylon material, just a slightly sloppier build quality. But the Swiss stuff is so precise, I'll always prefer it.

Generally speaking, if you find the Neutrik parts costing about the same as the Switchcraft part's , they are the cheaper version ...Neutrik has ALWAY"S been higher priced than Switchcraft ....Switchcraft has been high quality over the years.... They don't mess with success.....Jim |

James. I use both on my preamp. The all metal, exposed, switchcraft types are switchcraft. Just like on an old Fender amp input or on a strat jack. It's really amazing how those hold up over 50 years and still work perfectly.
When it comes to the black plastic insulated types, not the thin ones that you find on some modern fender amps, but the fat ones with a fat black nut like on a Marshall or a modern Evans, I like the Neutriks. They're easy to get and affordable. The originals were and still are made by Cliff of the UK. People seem to call the "cliff jacks" as a generic name just like Kleenex is for tissues. Then Re-An apparently made some too and Neutrik somehow merged with Re-An on those. Both the Cliff and the (non-chinese) Re-An/Neutrik are good. They all make them out of black nylon and they're very smooth to insert and the metal electrical parts are top notch, nicely plated, last forever, extremely tough.
I think that plastic jacks got a bad name when switchcraft made some with a thin threaded input that you could easily break by overtightening the nut. The fat "cliff" types are excellent and seem to last for decades with no problem.

I ordered a Switchcraft amphenol connector at Sam Ash for $2. All you need is the Switchcraft # to order different ones. The good part is no shipping charge.
