POD XT looking for reso "dobro" sound
I found a setting via a search on the forum, and I was just wondering if anyone else has tried to modify it or even come up with something of there own. I'm still searching for something that sounds good to me. Thanks. I'd rather not buy a dobro simulator if I can get away with it with my XT.

I wish I had my settings written down, but I don't. I think I've gotten pretty close. I do use a plastic bar, which I think helps. Can't remember which amp model I used, either the Acoustic or the Delux model. I do remember I use the 1x8 cabinet model, a little compression and a little phaser. I think a lot of that sound can be accomplished with EQ, but I've never seen any EQ setting for something like the MatchBro.
One of these days I'm going to sit down with the dobro and PSG and PODxt and really try to dial it in. All I need is time...

Ben if you happen to stumble onto something close let me know that would be great. I spent two hours messin around with a sound and it's funny how if you don't have a reference sound to listen to you can only guess what it should sound like. Then when I tried it on stage after a few days of being away from the XT. It didn't really sound how I thought it would.
Jack, have you tried to A-B your matchbro with the pod to see if the setting was close? Just curious. If I had a matchbro I probably would mess with the pod either.
Any insights are welcome.

I've got one that I threw together rather quickly. A little cheesy no doubt. Right now the Pod's buried in the bus bay in my seat. When I get it out on Thur I'll get the file off it and email it to you. Mind you, it was thrown together in a hurry and I've really not had time to finess it......

Well,
Got it outta the bay, but no USB cable. I'll have to get it to you when we're back, on Tue. if that's ok.....
I do know quickly glancing at it, I used the VariAx Acoustic, with a single 12 Tweed Cab and 421 Dynamic Mic. I am running into the front of my Dual Showman Rev.

Chris,
I used to have a 2.0 a few years back and had a so-so Dobro patch on it. Have a POD XT now. I'm only using it for Chorus, Rev, Delay, and a little Dirt. I'm not using the AMP part of it as I'm running it into my DSR. But, the cool thing about the XT is all those are on one patch and on a separate button, so I can pop in and out anyone I want. Kinda cool as in some ballads of her's I'll use delay but when it comes to hard stops, such as "Always Have, Always Will" I can pop the button to drop out the delay. Same thing with the dirt button. Pop it in just before the twin ride on Heartache, with the lead guitar, then pop it right back out. It's really like having 4 stomp boxes at your fingertips. Also, the tuner is much better and accurate then the older POD's.
I'm also using Tommy's POD Bracket, which is great for having to get the axe offstage in a hurry.
As far as the Acoustic Variax setting, I messed a little with it yesterday at soundcheck. The cabinet settings vary it quite a bit. I think with some serious tweaking, depending on what you are pluggged into, you can get a decent dobro setting. Still got some more work to do on it, as time permits....
McCoy was with us in Wyoming with us last week, and he said he set up Jenkins with some patches, so I think Scott too is using one now....

I have a dobro-sounding patch I built within my POD XT. It is still being tweaked now and then but sounds pretty good. If you'd like to hear it, please come by the Zumsteel guitars demo room during the ISGC next weekend. I will also have some of my POD brackets for sale as well as new POD XT's. (Sorry, maybe that last statement should have been posted in the For Sale: Amps & Accessories section).
Anyway, if your coming to Scotty's bring your POD so we can compare our dobro patches. (Bruce is going to love this!)
