Sometimes I like to play my lap when I'm away from the grid. My problem is how to amplify the signal. I've used these "mini Marshall" amps that run on a D-cell or whatever but they distort badly when you give it any power at all. My question is if you've seen a battery powered mini-amp powerful enough to send a decent signal to headphones. |

Anybody here try this out?
http://tangentsoft.net/audio/cmoy-tutorial/
it looks like it could work as a pretty good headphone amp... and total parts cost around 20 bucks!
If your not the DIY type, I'd recommend the zoom home practice model. It's a bit pricier, but it comes with metronome, tuner, zillions of low qualitiy effects, auxiliary in, etc...
All in all, a very nice little toy for home practice.

If you only want a headphone amp, the Danelectro E15 works pretty good and it's real small and fairly cheap($20). It doesn't have a speaker though. I'd go with the Micro Cube if you need the speaker.

Thanks guys. If I don't need an external speaker, do you think something like the Danelectro E15 would send as good a signal to the headphones as the Micro Cube? |

I was in search for the same thing not to long ago.
I think the Danelectro is the only option thats easy to find.
Try ebay . You might find something there.
Someone hipped me up to these old Univox Amplified Headphones. I found a pair on ebay and lost the auction.
I haven't checked recently .Maybe you will some luck -Dave

For headphone use only the Danelectro E15 is really nice. Just in terms of size, the E15 is about 1/100 the size of the Micro-cube which in itself is very small. And also a lot more affordable, $20 vs $125.
Jim Palenscar of " Steel Guitars of North County" here in So. Cal. treated us to these at the Reece Anderson seminar and they performed very well.

Thanks All. I got the Danelectro E15 and even though it doesn't quite have the fidelity of my regular amp, it's pretty darned close. Haven't checked out the mini-cube yet. |

Get down to your local music shop and try a MicroCube. You may not decide to buy it, but you'll like it. Amazing -- for a battery-powered amp. |

I Have a Peavey Rage 158 - It has both Headphone output and CD Input so you can play along with CD's and bother no one - Has a great sound for a little amp. I'd ship it in the states for $80.00

Can you mute the external speaker on the Microcube? |
