Hi Rick,
Looking at the source code of your page, the html anchors should point to images on the server. They actually point to an individual computer's hard drive. The web page probably looks fine on your computer if the images are stored there.
for example:
src="file:///D:/Steel/MySteelPics/SteelRig02sm.jpg"
should instead be something like:
src="http://rickalexander.com/BigSteel/SteelRig02sm.jpg"
Or wherever you have chosen to store images on your server...

Nice shots!
I really like that walnut 25.5" Stringmaster. I have one of it's double necked 1955 cousin's here at home.
Your Fender Dual Professional looks to be a 1948 or early 1949, as the roman numeral fretboards were changed from brown to black in early '49 (the rectangular pickups were changed to the trapezoidal shape in late '49, too).
Nice collection, Chris |

What a nice collection! Clean, too. Do you actually perform like that, with a single neck guitar perched above a double? And do those "knockoffs" sound any good? |

Thank you John- coming from you that's a compliment for sure.
Thank you Chris, especially for the dating info. I bought the Dual Pro back in the 70s when I knew nothing about steel, I was just a guitar picker. I transferred my flaming bic and foaming bud on strat licks to it. I had NO CLUE at the time how valuable it would become - I paid $75 for it, plus $50 for the Champion I bought the same day. I was told the Dual Pro was a 51 and the Champion was a 47 (that's probably wrong too) The guy just wanted them out of his store - his exact words were "Just get these crappy things out of my store!" You see he was a dealer in fine vintage guitars . . .
Dan - yes I do. I have the 8 string necks tuned to A6, E13th, and C6 (or C6/A7)running in stereo (the Session 500s) and the 6 string tuned to open A and E and running through a different amp, usually a Music Man 212HD130. It makes people think I'm insane, and it gives me more instant tonal variety . .
Of the 3 Knockoffs (I love that word) the Guyatone actually has a decent sound and is very playable. The pickup switches give some nice tones. The Columbia comes in second, it's okay. The Jedson - well, David Gilmour did some major mods to his Jedsons (probably the best available in England in the 60s) and that's what this one needs as well. New pickup(s) and a new bridge for starters . . But it's the only one of the 3 that came with legs and a case.

Thanks Keoki, Yeah the New Yorker is amazing - I totally lucked out finding that one. There are still a few out there, but mostly beaters. This one is flawless and the case is perfect too, it doesn't even stink. It plays beautifully, so sweet and chimey you want to cry. When Fedex first delivered it I took it out of the case and strummed it, and it was in tune (E tuning) -
and I've played stuff on that guitar I never even thought of on any other. |

Wow, what a collection. They are all beautiful guitars. However, the '57 D8 Ricky is GORGEOUS! It's a good thing that you can't see drool on forum posts!
