I hate to be a "spoil sport" but when you are out in the audience listening to someone with a stereo system, it doesn't sound any different than someone with a single amp.
I have a stereo system and it really sounds good on stage, so it's not that I don't have one.
But, we have several at our steel guitar club that use stereo systems, including stereo steel systems, Profex II/DPC power amp/15" BW speaker systems, etc.
Whenever I play a venue that mics the amps, they only mic one speaker. Iv'e worked Silver Springs park (Ocala, Fl) several times and one time we were on a Marty Martel Opry Legends package show that also had John Hugey doing backup for most of the acts. John had his stereo system and they only miked one of his speakers too.
Actually, for the road or one nighters, I want the least equipment I can get away with and currently it's a Nashville 112 amp.

Ron,I use two Steel Kings but not in stereo. Most of my playing is in churches except for jamming with some local guys. I use a Goodrich pedal (H10K) w/2 output jacks - one thru a processor to amp 1 and the other output to amp 2. Amp 2 is straight - no effects at all. I started using this in Canada back in the early sixty's with two Fender piggy-back amps. I sure like the tone I get from the amps - and I really like the Steel King's.
