They claim to have one of Sol's original Tricones up for auction. It's not the one with "Sol Hoopii" engraved on the side (I own seven of those... make me an offer).

Auction starts at $525. They estimate that bidding could reach one million.

Unfortunately they don't have a buy it now for $575.

The ad also states the following:
The first great artist who endorsed these instruments Sol Ho' Opi'i (pronounced Who-Oo-Pee-Pee)

Who - Oo- Pee - Pee??? (say that one to a group of first graders and see what kind of reaction you get). Well at least they tried - I'll give 'em credit for that.

Sol's Guitar for sale - step right up!

I was told by Sol's second wife Ana, now deceased, their name is pronounced:

HO - (as in Don Ho) - O - PEE - EE

Aloha Graham ... Yes, I'm back. It was a fun gig ! Great time but the days seemed to go by far too quickly. I was no sooner on the ship in Vancouver when 6 days later, I was off in Hilo and heading home by air. My shortest of 23 visits to Hawai'i ever !

Keoki,

Glad you enjoyed yourself.

When you get organised, let me know about the Round Robin ... I just can't figure out how I got bypassed ... maybe you should send it in the opposite direction?

Well I guess Sol's guitar wasn't worth a million bucks. It sold for $2700.
