I have been learning some stuff of C6 tuning. This may seem like a very novice question, but are there any slants or reverses I can use on my E major tune? I was trying different combinations and found the minors using the first 3 strings. Thanks, Ron

On that E tuning..........try the 1st, 2nd and 3rd strings in a staight bar position.
Do a backward slant, say 4th, 5th and 6th frets, strings 1,2 & 3. Jerry used it on one of his later albums..........Very pretty.
The C6th slants are not compatiable in MY opinion as it is a different TUNING! THe slants only make it possible for you to gain something that is not otherwise available without pedals to do the job for you.

It's a good idea to work out your own slants, but one slant that I like is a forward slant on strings three, four and five. It's a tritone plus a fourth, and it becomes different things depending on where you play it. Also, you can turn it into a split slant, and get a tritone plus a third.

I like those old simple two string slants such as on strings 1 and 3. In the key of A at the 5th fret if you want to do an E move just play the 1st string at the 4th fret and the 3rd string at the 3rd fret. What's nice is to slid back from the 5th fret to this position, go back to the 5th fret straight bar, go up two frets with the same slant and then two more which puts you back in A again.....Have a good 'un..JH
