My fiddle player is going crazy looking for an amp, he's been thru most of the obvious acoustic type amps, (Roland, SWR Strawberry Blonde, Fenders, Crate), I had him play through my NV 112 and it sounded better(to me) than those acoustic amps (good low end), he has a LR Baggs Fiddle pickup, and usually we run that thru his Fishman Preamp into the board, but we are just too loud for him, and he has to live on top of the monitors.
I have seen some gentlemen play through older Peaveys with 15" and they sounded pretty darn good to me, but that may be because they have better pickups/fiddles
bows, and touch, who knows |

| I have heard good comments about the Nashville 400 used as a fiddle amp. It would seem to me that the Nashville 112 would be a good choice. The musician should "fiddle" with the tone controls and find the settings that he likes with his fiddle. The 112 also has that handy "line out" on the back for connecting to the PA system. He could run his fiddle through the PA and use the 112 for his monitor. |

| Bill,my fiddle player used a Randall 300 with a fifteen in. electro-voice speaker.he must have tried at least 15 other amps before settling on this amp.i think this is the same amp that sonny(george's & tammy's) steel man used.it had a great sound and very dependable |

Bill, our Nashville 112 has become a favorite among fiddlers at the steel guitar conventions. Other than that model, the Peavey Special 130's are another amp that is used quite often by fiddlers.

A fiddle player I worked with a few years back, really liked my Peavey Bandit 65. So much so that I sold it to him. He had tried a Music Man, a Trace Elliot, and others. I think he ended up with a combination of the Trace and the Bandit together.

I have tried just about everything-a Peavey MX with a 12" Black Widow is hands down the best for fiddle-a little heavy but it has the tone-also a great steel amp!

Bill,
I play a good deal of fiddle myself and I can testify that your fiddle player's Baggs pickup/Fishman preamp setup is probably just fine. It's been my experience that most any good Steel amp will make a good fiddle amp too. I used a Nashville 400 and Twin Reverbs for many years with excellent results. Since I've begun playing a Fender Steel King I have also been using that amp for fiddle and it is great. The key to good fiddle tone is to have a good instrument, get your tone dialed in from the outboard preamp (in your fiddle player's case, the Fishman) and then fine tune it with the amp but mainly just use the amp for volume. Like a monitor. A little reverb is nice too.

If you run your fiddle through a peavy MX you want need a pre-amp and at loud or soft volumes it will kick butt-If your band plays loud you will hear it-the MX has a switch that has 120 watts-I have 2-Twins,Vibrosonic,Vibroverb,Session 2000-and about another 13 amps-believe me the MX rules for fiddle!

Scott Moon, one of the Bush fiddlers, has been using a Peavey N'ville 112 on gigs with great results, IMHO. He and I both bought one at the TSGA Jamboree. Mine is still in my home studio, getting daily use and I dig it.

Hey Herb, yeah I was standing right behind ya at the show getting my 112,, seemed like the best time and place to get one.
I was stoked about that amp, I thought "hey Herb just bought one!, he's seen the light, my purchase has been justified!",(which it is), but now I understand you are just using it for dobro,,come on,, grab your Emmons and plug that sucker in and make that NV 112 bark!!! You rock Herb!!
Last night my Fiddler played through it(NV 112) without his preamp and we had the Presence, Treble and Mid's dialed low, I thought it sounded fine.
When you played at he TSGA meeting last month, there was a gentleman playing fiddle(home made?) through a Peavey with a 15", was that Dean Baxter? I'd like to get his contact info and my guy get in touch with him and chat, I thought his tone was smooth as silk and brown as chocolate |

NASHVILLE 112 IS A STANDOUT FOR FIDDLE WITH LR BAGGS BRIDGE PICKUP AND LR BAGS PARA ACOUSTIC DI BOX .I HAVE USED NASH 400, SESS 400, NV 1000, SESS 2000, WEBB, EVANS, THE OLD TWEED 4-10 FENDER BASSMAN I DID LIKE A LOT BUT THIS LITLE NV 112 CAN GIVE THEM ALL A RUN FOR THE MONEY BAR NONE.
