What's involved in replacing the pot in a Goodrich volume pedal?

Can I do it myself or should I take it to a shop?

Thanks in advance for advice.

Go to this link to see how to wind the string. Unsolder 3 wires from old pot. Solder the wires to new pot.

Joe, if you can use a soldering iron, you can do it yourself. Here's the way I do it.

Remove the bottom cover and notice that the pot is attached to a bracket on the side of the pedal. Take a 4" crescent wrench and loosen the hex head nut holding the pot to the bracket. Loosen the allen head screw holding the string barrel on to the pot shaft. If you are carefull, you might slide the shaft out of the barrel without having to disconnect the string end. Slide the pot down and away from the bracket while slipping off the barrel from the pot shaft. Lift the pot up out of the way of the bracket and with the back of the pot facing you, mark the wire colors that go to each terminal on the existing pot. Un-solder the wires and with the NEW 500K pot in hand, solder the wires to the proper terminal.
re-install the pot back into the bracket, while sliding back on to the pot shaft, the string barrel. After tightening the pot to the bracket and before tightening down your allen screw on the pot shaft, make sure you adjust the travel to give you what you want in regards to a threshold volume. This is the way I have replaced pots in Goodrich Foot Volume Controls. Good luck!
