I just received a Peavey Nashville 1000 that I bought from a forum member. Plugged it in and there is no sound at all (not even a thump when you power it up). I called Peavey and checked everything they said including making sure that the speaker cables hadn't come unplugged. And it is powering up okay. It looks in perfect condition. Does anyone have any other suggestions before I'm forced to take it to the dealer for repair? |

There are 4 internal fuses, from what I can tell by the schematic. Maybe one (or more) of those have gone.
Was this supposed to be in perfect working order? or sold "as is"? Although something could have happened in shipping........
Have you contacted the seller? |

No, it was sold as in perfect working condition. I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. I have contacted the seller but haven't heard back from him yet. I'm assuming something happened in shipping although there are no physical signs of any damage at all. It looks in perfect condition. |

Does anyone know where the fuses are located? somewhere simple or do I have to rip the thing apart. (I'm no electronics expert so it would have to be something a 10 year old could do.) |

You would have to remove the chasis to access the fuses. They are mounted on one of the circuit boards. |

Check where the computer-type power cable plugs into the underside of the chassis. This model is prone to that plug coming loose just enough to make the amp not power up. Sometimes just carrying it out to the car can be enough movement to make it happen.

It powers up no problem. A friend of mine said try to see if the preamp out works, so I ran that into another amp, and it worked!!!
My friend said that the problem was probably that a fuse popped in shipping.
So now I need to know how to get to the fuses. Does anyone know which screws to unscrew to get to the fuse box?[This message was edited by Bill McCloskey on 07 March 2005 at 04:54 PM.] |

Call Mike Brown at 1-877-732-8391 before you try anything. I think there could be ceramic fuses or something like that soldered into the board. They may not be easy to change and you may not be able to tell which is bad if any. If Mike can't help you over the phone, then he may ask you to remove the amplifier section (quite easy to do) and ship to him. He can often get it back to you in less than a week. Try to not be too impatient (very hard, I know) because you might take a minor problem and cause damage.

I decided to return the amp. The seller couldn't have been more gracious. I called 4 or 5 authorized Peavey repair shops in my area and all of them said it would be at least 2 weeks before they could even look at it. It was just too long to wait before I would even know what was wrong with it, which I'm sure was something minor. A shame because the sound when I ran the preamp out into my Fender Acoustasonic Pro amp was quite amazing. So I'm in the market for a new amp now.
And thanks Mike for all your help.[This message was edited by Bill McCloskey on 08 March 2005 at 12:18 PM.] |
