| Ibanez will be re-issueing the AD-9 stomp box for those looking for a nice little analog delay ....The list price is somewhere around $300 so street price will be considerably less....Jim |

My main delay is an original AD-9. I love it.
It is compact with great tone. It does the repeat-tone-degeneration thing that a tape delay does so well...
I would love to hear the the re-issues.

I am not responsible if anything bad happens, but......
I have a Boss DM2, very old, which appears to be very similar to the AD9 and several other analog delays. If you need a longer delay time, there is a way.
In the DM2, when you take the bottom cover off, there is a trimpot visible. This sets the maximum amount of delay available. Rotate it the right direction, and voila. You may need a little schematic/electronic knowledge to determine if the pot is what you are going after, depending upon the unit you are using.
The only down side is that becaue of sampling/clocking rates versus input signal frequency, on extreme high notes the signal integrity is not the same. It's hard to describe, but if you heard it you'd know what I mean. For me, it's not an issue, because I rarely use the device at the maximum delay time anyway.

My AD-9 has a home on my pedalboard. The maximum delay time is short; I would guess under 300ms. But it sure has a nice sound. BTW, I use this setup on my six strings (Les Paul and Strats mainly).

Hi Jim,
The last time I corresponded with Steve Dudley he was not going to be working on more pedals. His is a 'one man in his garage' operation. Interesting note; when he started to get things going and got some rep, Keely nabbed his domain name (which Steve neglected to register). When you go to doobtone.com now it directs you to Keely's homepage. The Rats are great, though, and Keely does a similar mod which is well worth the cost. |
