Got one in the other day for a memory chip with a scrambled display. Looked like Greek! Found that the nut holding the tone and volume control assembly to the front panel was backed off and shorting against the display ribbon cable's board connector, shorting out several pins. The other nut for the board was running around loose in the Tubefex!

I went to the Peavey Repair Forum and found a fellow with the same problem. I emailed him what I found. His is fixed now, same problem found.

Ken, my Tubefex does that every once in a while. It just happens randonly, usually just on one or two programs, goes away if I initallize it. I thought that this might be a symtom of battery failure, would that be rulled out? I will open it up and check it out for loose parts.

It is random at first, then the nut backs all the way out and it really whacks out. Let me know if that is the problem with yours.
Hard to get at that nut. I had to remove the ribbon cable and back off the display screws to tilt it back. It can be done, just takes TLC.
A low battery allows the memory to scramble and usually results in "DSP Error". Take a look at the battery when you have the top off, make sure it is not leaking.
