I have everything (Amp, Transtubefex, Hilton volume pedal) plugged into a power strip/surge protector and was working fine until I unplugged to power strip (anticipating an electrical storm). When I plugged back in I get a loud hum that I am assuming is the 60 cycle ground hum (?) that I've seen discussed somewhere on here. When I unplug the amp from the power strip and plug it into another outlet it's ok but I need to be able to plug all into power strip.

You changed absolutely nothing in the equation except to unplug the power strip and then plug it back in?

If so, you might want to try another power strip or check that the third (grounding) pin is intact and that the outlet is properly wired (big pin to neutral, small pin hot, round pin ground).

Plug your effects unit into a 3-wire-to-2-wire AC adapter, then into the power strip.
It is important that your amp use its 3 wire ac plug (to prevent electrical shock).
