help with a profex 2

Post by Lyle Bradford »

I have a profex 2 and when i plugged it up i got this messeage DSP INTERFACE ERROR (resetting system) I reinitialized it then it worked for a couple of minutes. then on settings 119.120,124 it gave the message PARAM OUT OF RANGE (autocorrecting) Is there anyting i can do to correct this or does it need to go to a Peavey workshop?

Lyle, when you "reinitialized" the unit did you do a "factory reset". If not, do a factory reset as it seems to clear up a lot of flakey problems. If that doesn't do it, it's probably back to Peavey for service.

Let me know when to expect here at the factory. My phone number is 1-877-732-8391(toll free). I'll be glad to assist. Thanks.

I have the same problem. My settings had weird letters thrown in the middle like Stl St3el. I reset to factory settings. I hadn't turned the Profex on in a few months, can that kill the battery? Can a non-techie replace the battery - I would like to fix all problems before re-loading the settings.
Thanks

The profex 2 will give messages of "dsp interface error" and "bypassed" if the internal memory battery is bad. It will also show default messages such as re- ititializing. Although these messages aren't strictly limited to a battery problem, it is the most likely problem to occur. As far as changing the battery, it is not that difficult to do if you are familiar with using a soldering iron and some experience with electronics. I have changes many and it takes less than an hour. Peavey sells the batteries at $14.02 shipping included or you can locate an electronics dealer and they will likely have it for less than $10.

However, I wouldn't be acknowledging Mike Brown at Peavey and thier fine staff of techs without saying they can likely fix any problem with the unit and at a very reasonable rate!
