I've recently installed a Jerry Wallace Truetone on my MCI guitar and the output level of the pickup isn't nearly as loud as the BL 705 I pulled off of it.

Is this normal? I have the pickup 3/16" (stack of 3 quarters) below the strings, and as I understand it, I shouldn't go past that.

I'd love to get it a little hotter so I didn't have to crank the pregain on the amp up so high to get playable volume.

Otherwise, it sounds awesome (except the single coil hum which I'll get used to).

Thanks in advance,

I think that maybe the Lawrence 705 is a little "hotter" pickup therefore it's a little louder, but gosh, Jerry's Truetones sure sound great. 3/16ths is correct.

Thanks Jerry,

I was under that impression too, and I wanted to make sure I didn't imagine it.

The pickup is putting out a reasonable amount of signal, so I dont think it's broken or miswired in any way. Tomorrow's rehearsal will tell me if I can play loud enough. Hummmmmmm!

Thanks again,

When I had my pot pedal, signal strength was more of an issue.

I've got TT rewinds on my SBPIII.

I don't know if you're using one, but if you're not, and you try a Hilton Pedal, I can about guarantee you'll find a way to get one.

Just a thought.

Burton, When I put TT 18.5's on my Emmons LGII I didn't notice a volume change but I did notice a little clearer tone. Basically Mr. Wallace made a great sounding guitar sound even better. Then I went to a Hilton volume pedal. WOW!!! What an incredible combination. As far as having to use more volume on your amp, I've always found that if I have an opportunity to use more volume on the amp it sounds better.
Anyway have fun with your new TT's, experiment, and as always,

Keep pickin', Larry
