Who all's got the Nashville 1000?

I've had my new Peavey Nashville 1000 for about seven weeks now and am very pleased with it's performance. Was able to dial up a very nice sound right out of the box, and Lord knows it's got tons of volume! With the addition of my TC Electronics M300 processor (reverb + delay) and my BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer (preamp out/power amp in), the sound coming out of the 1000 is just wonderful: big, smooth, and lush. I've only had three other amps before this one (Peavey LTD, Peavey Bandit, Peavey Session Wedge) - the 1000 kills them all for me.

If I could change anything about my Nashville 1000, it would be that I wish it had a POT to control the level of the effects loop. This got me wondering how many of you all have a Nashville 1000 and how are you liking it, compared to other amps you've played? What do you see as it's Pros and it's Cons, and would you recommend it to other steel players? Thanks guys

I have played through my Nashville 1000 for about 3 months now, and like you I think it is great. I had a 400 which I didn't love, and I sold it. I still have an Evans FET500 (?) which is also a dynamite amp, but mine is a bit older and slightly the worse for the wear. Lately I prefer the 1000 but damn they are heavy! I use an RV-3 and a distortion pedal, but not through the effects loop. Perhaps I should.

I have had my Nashville 1000 for less than a year, and I like it real well. It has more power than the 400, and a better reverb. It took me a while to find the setting I like, but once I did, what a nice sound. I wish it was the same size as the 400, it's a little bulkier to carry around, but the sound is worth it! I have my 1000 for 3-4 months now. I had trouble in the beginning as I was not connecting stuff right. With Mike Brown's help I learned how to string it up, putting the volume pedal in pre eq send and return and putting my effects rack in post send and return.
Ever since I wired it up correctly I love it.

Also, I had a Session 400 that I have loved for 15 +/- years. When I bought the 1000 I struggled with getting it to be bright enough. I posted here on the forum and got other guys settings for the amp. When I tried most of the settings it sounded much too bassy and fat. I use totrally different settings for the amp than most guys use and now its bright and fat both. I set my bass at about +3. Where I was told to set it way up to + 8-9. Wow! No way. Also I have to put my treble controls including presence way up to +10 to get it as bright as my session 400. Now it sounds great. Most of the guys here on the forum tell me to set treble and presence at 0 to + 2/3. Again no way. I need to set treble at 10 to get enough highs. Mids are -9 and that is what all the guys told me. By the way I am playing a 1 year old Zum double 10 which sounded great immediately on my 400 so I knew there was nothing wrong with the guitar..........

I bought a Nashville 1000 about 2 weeks ago and I love it. Played it on stage for the first time last Sat. nite.The band said to leave my other amp at home and bring the 1000 from now on. They were very empressed and that is something that is hard to do to my band.When they voluntarily said that they liked the sound of the 1000, I was impressed. Great amp.Emmons Lagrand 111, Evans fet 500, Nashville 400. Ibanez analog delay and Ibanez tube screamer.

4245 registered members on this Forum and only 5 of us have a Nashville 1000? Interesting - it's either this is not a very good selling amp or people really don't care about threads like this. My guess is the later verses the former.

I have acquired one recently and I like it a lot. Very useful for smaller stages where I can't cram my stereo rack rig on -- I particularly like the bottom end for C6th, very fat and plenty of grunt !!

Mabe this topic has been hashed out before,I am sure there is plenty of 1000 owners, I have had mine for 3 years, like it just fine also have Nashville 400 Ses 400 an Ltd 400, but I like the 1000 best. Jerry

I got a Nashville 1000 shipped to me 18 months ago from Bobbe at SGNashville.I have
the session 400 Ltd LemayMod also.These are
great amps for steel guitar IMHO.
I practice with CDs or backing tracks using
either amp and go straight in the high input from Emmons Leg111 via Goodrich LSW.
I use Treble and Presence near max and shift
7 to 8 and tweak.The reverb is all I need at
home.On gigs the Boss dd3.The Nash1000 is a
dream backline amp for me.I am not looking for anything else.

I have 2 of them and love them both.

Just finished using them along with my 2 NV400's as back line amps at the Choo Choo and they all screamed the entire weekend.

They are keepers.

As a newbie to both steel and guitar I started out with a small cheap amp. Was told this was all I needed,Just could not get any tone quality at all!Was ready to quit,but kept on anyway.Decided to upgrade to a Nashville 1000 after looking at this forum.Have loved it every since and am starting to get decent tone.

I have one, but it's been in my garage as a backup. I still like the N-ville 400. Recently, my ProFex died on me so I've been straight into the amp (no fx) until I can replace the ProFex. I've been compairing the two amps and (IMHO), the N-Ville 400 beats the 1000, hands down, as far as tone goes. The 400 misses the preamp that the ProFex provided.

Larry,
I set up the 4 amps so steelers would have a choice. Most want to use 2 amps and some prefer 1000's and some prefer 400's. Some bring their own rig.

I have both the 1000 and 400, both are great amps and would not evan consider to change. BUT, I have found that my Zum sounds great through the 1000, but the Carter and Mullen sound better through the 400. Most likely it's the pickups (I think). The Mullen and Carter have George L's and the Zum doesn't. I have tweeked EQ's until I was blue in the face, jumping from steel to steel, amp to amp trying to make a choise which was better. The end result is both are great amps and would use either one in any kind of gig and couldn't be more happier with my Peavey amps.

Mike your right I have demo'd and actually recorded a whole CD with a Shobud through a Nashville 1000; and sounded pretty dang good...and bought one from Bill Dearmore shortly after that; but just had to sell it as I just can't get past how great the Note breaths through my Twin and the 1000 just sat there in my room.
I will however say that the Nashville 1000; is the best sounding of all the peavey's I've played through(except for Lloyd Maines old LTD I played through years ago...wow..) to date....but I still just can't get the texture and dynamics out of a solid state amp; that I can out of my Fender Twin; which is my Number 1 Amp(heck it's the only amp I own now..ha).

I have owned one for about 3 and 1/2 years now, and believe me when I say, it is the greatest. I still have my original LTD that Peavey sent to me when I was with Mel Tillis. I believe it was in 1976. I loved that amp and still do, however the tone of the 1000 and the power and headroom you have with it are awesome. The only way the LTD would work for me now is if I could find another one with the same characteristics of the LTD I have now. Then with the two of them I might come close to getting what I am getting out of the 1000.

I've had one since 2000 - a great amp, and easily the best value for money out there. I prefer it to my 400, but can't explain why - it just seems to me that it benefits from that big, open-backed cabinet.

It isn't that it's heavy (57 lbs isn't too bad), but it's so unwieldy - the 400's easier to move around, and two 400s will lay side-by-side in the bottom of the trunk of my 'Town Car'.

I played an open-air gig recently where I used the 1000 and a NV-112 going stereo through the Profex II - I thought I had a great sound on that gig, but I can't prove it here.....

A vote of thanks from me to Peavey and Mike Brown for staying faithful to the relatively tiny steel guitar market.
