Start with the easiest thing first...>"Check the Fuse"...>then check the plug....then take it in or not.

Dave, if you will give me a call here at Peavey, we'll attempt to figure out what might be the problem. Have your guitar available to try a couple of things for me. I can be reached toll free from 8am to 5pm CST Monday through Friday at 1-877-732-8391. Maybe I can assist in determing the origin of the problem. Please have a couple of instrument cables available for patching purposes.
Thanks,
Mike Brown

Heck YES--The Session 500 is worth fixing.
I was given one also and it has the power to fill a ballroom. Heavy --Yes --but that is just the nature of the beast.A lot of people shy away from them because they are so massive and heavy. Mine has roller castors on the bottom so moving it isn't so hard.
I use the 3 cord hook up to mine and it improves the tone.I'm sure Mike Brown can better explain that to you when you and him make contact.
There is also a Mod for it which even futher improves its tone .Mike can expound on that.
Bottom line is this ---It was the Cadillac in its day and still is a fine amp --so if you were given one ---Hey --Go For It!!!

It ain't worth messin' with, so send it to me, and I'll get rid of it for you!! HA! Seriously, many steel players who love the older solid state sound really like the older Session 500's. They definatly are good steel amps with great tone! Mike Brown will dial you in and have you up and runnin' in no time flat!! |
