I got an EV-15" speaker from our keyboard player. He got it out of a speaker enclosure used for a main.

The only info on the speaker is a stamp like numbering....815 9997 930

I will either use them as they are probably intended in a Crate enclosure that I sometime use for a monitor or put it in a cab and use it with my "Twin reverb" head
Any thoughts??

I have EVM 15L speakers in both of my Webb
amps. They're terrific, but I'm not sure
exactly which model you have. You just
want to make sure it will handle the higher
frequencies your steel puts out.

Like most manufacturers, EV made good speakers...and not-so-good speakers. Usually, the good ones were quite heavy, and the not-so-good ones were light. So, if it weighs close to 20 pounds, I'd keep it. If it weighs 10 pounds or less...sell it to a guitar player!

I have an EV 15L in my '71 Twin Reverb---sounds fantastic!! I also have a pair of EV 12L's in my Super Twin---sounds fantastic. I also have an EV 15B in my '81 twin. I'm very happy with it, also. Ev's are known for better than average bass responce, and really a clean "full range" , and can take alot of power. Sorry, can't tell you about the numbers on yours

Thanx guys for the input....This sucker's heavy with a huge magnet.
I'm just a little curious that the speakers they make for guitars are different than the ones they made for PA speaker cabs.

Jack, that's exactly what you want for pedal steel! It means the speaker's efficient, and probably has good low-end response and power handling capability. In large cabinets (such as high-dollar PA systems and theater systems use), the speakers aren't usually much different. They need big power capability and wide response too. Sometimes they have uncommon impedances, though (like 16 ohms), so be sure to check and see that it's close to what your amp was designed for. If it's unsuited, impedance wise, you can mate it with another speaker or have it reconed. Big EV speakers are becoming hard to find nowadays, and they made some of the best!

I also have an older EV-15L that I bought new some years back & sounds great for pedal steel. I ended up putting it in a remote extension type cabinet.
