The Studio Pre is the only one that I have
had experience with. I'm sure you could get
great tone from other models but this pre
is patterned after the Mark III I think. I'm
sure a boog guy will correct me if I'm wrong.
This pre has such a warm big sound. Probably
has something to do with them not being made
anymore also that makes them cool. |

The Studio model preamp does have a good sound, it's also the only MB I've had my mitts on.
In addition, there was a fellow who showed up at one of the smaller steel shows using what I can only guess was a stock MB V-Twin preamp and MB 2/90/2 power amp.
He got such a nice tone out of it I had to go up after his set and confirm what it was he had in the rack.

| I use a Mesa-Boogie rack mount V-twin in one of my racks, it sounds great, even through the solid state Hafler rig I use for power in that rack. The overdrive side is lame, but the clean side has sparkling top end and rich bass. Unlike some other Boogie gear, you can get a lot of different, but still cool sounding tones out of this box. | I understand the MB Studio Pre has a decent reverb(spring?) which is a real plus which can eliminate the need for an extra rack unit. Do the other MB models have the verb as well? |

Hey Steven,
The V-Twin has no built in effects, but does have a nice sounding buffered effects loop, dedicated recording out and a headphone output (I think!) Cool sounding preamp.
