I've recently developed an interest in Evans amps...thinking of buying one if I can sell one more amp that I don't use anymore...but I have some questions that hopefully my fellow Forumites can answer.
First..what are the pros and cons of the cmall and large cabinets?
Second...are the older models better sounding than the newer ones?
Lastly...I've pictures of some that have a nameplate in white block letters on a black background and some with a nameplate in chrome with scripted letters....which is the newer model?
Thanks to anyone that can supply some info. |

Hi Mike, I appreciate the info you sent on those amps you had, but I managed to find me a Webb that is on the way. I am certainly not as well versed as many others in the Evans Amps, only the one that I have currently. I can tell you that after playing thru a Nashville 400 for 9 years, I was amazed at the clean crisp sound I achieved thru the Evans. I sold the Nashville a short time later. That is to say nothing negative about the Nashville. It was a workhorse and never gave me a bit of trouble. I just find that the Evans with the JBL has a "killer tone!" I have the large cabinet with a s/n of 8169. However, inside the amp head is written 8/83 in marker. So either way it is definitely an older model. If I like the Webb, which I am sure I will, I will have this Evans for sale in the very near future at a reasonable price. Just my 2 cents worth and I probably owe you change!
Thanks,
Dave
